Imago Cinematography — Edmonton Wedding Video Blog bio picture

A Little About Us...

Imago began in 2003 as a vision to create better wedding videos. If you've watched a wedding video from the last decade or so, you'll most likely understand what we mean. We wanted to create a wedding videos that couples would actually want to watch again and again. We wanted to create wedding films with meaning. With a story. We promise it wont be boring or cheesy. We use stunning visuals and breathtaking attention to detail that weave together the story of your wedding day. Just watch one of our videos!

We use the best equipment and techniques to create your timeless film and we're always pushing the edge. We love to incorporate motion and movement in our films because ultimately, that's what film is about. Our clients are diverse and no wedding is ever the same. We've experienced weddings from many cultures and we know how to adapt and be flexible under any circumstance. And we love to try new things.

We're based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, but we love to travel. We frequently travel to the Rocky Mountains, Calgary, and Vancouver to film weddings. Due to the cold climate in St. Albert, we'd love it if you'd bring us with you to somewhere warm. Check out our travel page for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q) We really want to book you. What’s the next step?
A) Great! We’re looking forward to working with you. To officially book us we need two things. 1) A signed  contract and a non refundable deposit of one-third of your package price. Before that though, we’d love to set up a consultation at our studio, and get to know you!

Q) What’s the difference between videography and cinematography?
A) Videography is about recording the event. Cinematography is about telling the story. It’s about creating something beautiful and meaningful.

Q) Are you available outside of Alberta?
A) Yes. A portion of our wedding commissions involve travel outside of Alberta and we’re always up for shooting somewhere new. New scenery is always a plus!

Q) When is the remaining balance due?
A) We divide the payments up over the course of the wedding. After the one-third deposit, the next third is due before the wedding, and the final third is due before final delivery.

Q) Have you ever shot a (insert culture here) wedding?
A) Probably. We’ve shot many different weddings from many different cultures. Even if we haven’t, we’re quick learners and we’re used to working in unfamiliar environments. Call us and tell us about your wedding!

Q) Who chooses the music?
A) That’s up to you. Either you can provide us with a style of music, a list of songs to choose from (so we can choose one that fits the feel of the video best), or you can let us choose the music that will fit the video best. Many of our highlight films featured on our blog and website are films that we choose music to. If you are choosing music, we can give you lots of advice, depending on how you want your highlights to turn out.

Q) How long does it take to get our video?
A) Every video is different, but if we get your song selections ahead of time, it generally takes us 8-10 weeks to get you your video. We want to emphasize that this is an artistic process and that we always prefer to spend a little more time on your film than to rush it our the door. That being said, we have a very efficient workflow and we’re way ahead of industry standards!

Q) What’s a Same-Day Edit?
A) This is one of our favorite features. A same-day edit is where we edit the video throughout the day to show a cinematic short film (around 3-5 minutes) at your reception. Your guests will get to see the moments leading up to the ceremony (getting ready, the dress, the emotion!), shots from the ceremony, and the photo-shoot.  It is an amazing piece to be able to share with your guests, as many people never get to see some of these amazing moments.

Q) What’s Vintage Filming
A) We’re especially excited about offering the vintage film feature, we shoot a short film alongside your wedding video. The twist is that we do it with a professional 8mm video camera. You have to see it to believe it. It’s a lot of fun, has a nostalgic feel to it, and it’s a one-of-a-kind. Look for examples on the blog.

Q) What’s a Love Story?
A) Although this sounds super-cheesy, this can be one of the best investments you’ve ever made. A love story is a short film/documentary featuring the story of how you and your fiance met, your first date, how you fell in love, the story of the proposal, and how you feel about the wedding. We shoot the video before the wedding, and show it at the reception for your guests. It’s a great way for your guests to get to know YOUR story.

Q) Why did you get into wedding cinematography?
A) That’s a good story, but we’ll tell you in person.

Q) I have another question.
A) Give us a call (1-866-99-IMAGO) or fill out the contact form.
